Pfizer Manager, Message Protection Engineering in Collegeville, Pennsylvania

ROLE SUMMARY

Strong protection against phishing and social engineering threats is a critical layer for preventing cyber adversaries from gaining a foothold within Pfizer's environment. The Manager of Message Protection Engineering owns the strategy, roadmap, technology, and operations of Pfizer's Message Protection policy and capabilities. The leader will be responsible for reducing risk, increasing operational effectiveness, and driving innovation which improves both security and user experience.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibility is to develop and implement strategies that leverage modern security technologies to prevent email-based attacks while supporting the needs of the business and Pfizer's cloud-centric strategy. At the same time, the manager must deliver a customer-focused platform that drives adoption across Pfizer's Identity Security services.

This role reports to the Senior Manager of Network and Message Protection Engineering and requires a balance of strategic thinking, strong communication and leadership skills and broad technical expertise across cloud, on-premise, and SaaS environments, along with a deep understanding of the email threat landscape to drive innovative message protection processes and solutions.

Message Protection : Lead the design, integration, and operations of current and future Message Protection capabilities. Interface between technical, strategic, and business stakeholders to drive new security services across Pfizer.

Engineering : Uses business, security, and risk requirements to design message protection related solutions and review strategy focused on automating routine tasks across disparate systems. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, and enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of message protection services.

Strategy and Vision: Maintain knowledge of the email threat landscape and and message protection security technologies and practices to drive new solutions and ideas within EP&S to keep Pfizer at the forefront of protection and visibility within its email stack.

Metrics and Reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness in preventing delivery of malicious emails to Pfizer end-users. Produce regular reports for leadership, highlighting the status of identity security management initiatives and identifying areas for improvement.

Organizational Leadership : Partner with the with incident response teams, cyber threat intelligence teams, and the enterprise collaboration &M365 teams to drive a culture of continuous innovation and improvement in the message protection security mission

Risk Management: Identify message protection related risks and vulnerabilities and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Maintain a continuous review of message protection hygiene and metrics identifying and remediating security gaps. Respond to security incidents related to false-negative and false-positive events, and lead investigations to determine root causes and remediation actions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree with at five years of relevant experience in Cyber Incident Investigations/Email Solution Engineering/Email Solution Architecture and Development in a corporate environment; OR Master's degree with three years of relevant experience; OR Associate's degree with eight years of relevant experience; OR Ph.D. with 0+ years of experience; OR 10 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience conducting data-driven investigations to drive improvement in organizations with greater than 10,000 users.

  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), on-premise enterprise environments and software delivery models (SaaS, IaaS).

  • Experience with industry leading message protection and other email security enterprise and open-source solutions, support and operations.

  • Experience collaborating with technical, strategic, and business stakeholders to create innovative technical solutions to meet business and security requirements.

  • Experience developing and implementing technical strategies and product roadmaps thatcreate measurable improvements over time.

  • Strong ability to drive strategic solutions and meet rigorous deadlines through project management and team leadership.

  • Familiarity with cyber threat prevention frameworks including Cyber Kill Chain and Mitre Attack Framework

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to develop talent and build bench strength in a high demand technology field.

  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to write and verbally articulate industry terminology to interact at a technical level, management level and senior executive level.

  • Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $93,500.00 to $155,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
