LOCATION: Groton, CT
DUTIES : Ensure that material manufactured for clinical trials is of suitable quality to be engineered into Pfizer products by building genotoxic control strategies which are aligned with the latest regulatory guidance. Take an active role in supporting new drug candidates by leading the analytical development strategies. Work with a cross-functional development team and apply a variety of analytical methodologies to support physical and chemical characterization of drug substances and drug products. Develop analytical control strategies that will allow others to quickly understand the synthetic and process chemistry of certain procedures. Build suitable specifications for procedures and processes based on the stage of development using internal Pfizer procedures and regulatory requirements. Perform various analytical methods and technologies. These include: chromatography; dissolution; IR spectroscopy; mass spectrometry; particle size analysis; and NMR. Responsible for developing analytical strategies for pharmaceutical substances and products; developing and validating analytical methods; isolating and identifying impurities; and developing impurity control strategies. Deliver suitable analytical methods such that drug substance and drug products can be released in a timely manner to support clinical trials.
Minimum Education : Master's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Forensic Chemistry or related field.
Minimum Experience : 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related position.
Special skills : 1) Two years of experience with Chromatography method development; 2) Two years of experience working in a pilot plant setting; 3) One year of experience with Empower chromatography data system; 4) One year of experience with Labware Laboratory Information Management systems; 5) One year of experience with mass spectrometry; 6) One year of experience with nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; 7) One year of experience with particle size analysis using both Sympatec and Malvern systems
