Pfizer Automation Engineer Drug Product SYSTEMS IIoT in Kalamazoo, Michigan
The mission of the Drug Product Process Automation team is to provide highly effective automation, information collection and reporting, and manufacturing workflow solutions for the Pfizer Global Supply (PGS) Kalamazoo facility. Major systems include an assortment of programmable logic controllers including Rockwell and Siemens, Systech and Cognex vision systems, and the Wonderware and Intellution SCADA and Batch recipe control systems. The automation engineer manages automation projects for new as well as existing equipment.
Specific to the SYSTEMS engineer role the scope also includes developing technological strategies to align and integrate automation systems in the local ecosystem and global solutions. Research new technologies to support the Digital Plant Of The Future initiative (IIoT, Cuber Security, Big Data handling, Mobile Computing, Statistical Modeling, Pattern Recognition,... ).
Reporting to the Manager/Team Leader of the Drug Product Automation group the successful candidate will provide process engineering support to the manufacturing equipment (formulation, preparation, filling, lyophilization, inspection and packaging) used to produce sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
As an individual contributor, the Automation Engineer SYSTEMS has the following responsibilities:
• identify, design and implement new technologies that support the next generation of Automation Systems (Digital Plant Of The Furture)
- Research new domains of Automation i.e. Mobile Computing, IIoT, Cyber Security, Big Data Handling, Statistical Modeling, (Pattern recognition, Machine Learning,...)
• co-Develop and implement a roadmap for the deployment of automation new technologies
• generate and develop standard operating procedures and system support documentation
• clearly communicate progress and issues to peers
• Assist in training and mentoring site Automation Technicians, Automation Engineers and other operations personnel.
Master of Science degree in a technical field Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
Five years of Automation Engineering experience
Knowledgeable in the field of (Web) application design, UI's, (#C, C++, ...)
Statistical tools, Python, R,..
Basic Knowledge about
PLC Systems - i.e. Rockwell and/or Siemens
SCADA Systems - i.e. Wonderware SCADA systems,
DATA Historians - i.e. data historian, VMWare, electrical/mechanical devices and other software applications are a plus but not required.
The ideal candidate should have background in Computer Science, Statistics, Automation, cGMP regulations and the practical application of those regulations to control systems.
Office and plant environment.
Occasionally entering clean rooms APA/AAP (Aseptic Gown)
Keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, walking.

Weekend and off hours work required, some overtime.
