Pfizer Director, PIH New Business Assessment in New York, New York

New Business Assessment is part of the PIH Strategy group and is responsible for shaping the Global PIH Business Development priorities, leading commercial evaluation of new business opportunities, and overseeing the commercial governance for business development projects. This team partners closely with WW Business Development to identify and successfully pursue attractive external opportunities and investments that have the potential to deliver the greatest value to Pfizer.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, New Business Assessment, the Director will support and help lead the New Business activities and projects for PIH Rare Disease, and other PIH business groups, as needed. Primary responsibilities will be to support the Sr. Director by leading or participating in commercial project teams for business development opportunities, defining commercial value proposition and market/product forecasts for external opportunity evaluation.

  • Lead and/or participate in commercial project teams for certain opportunities as requested by manager; determine and lead the process, timeline and overall deliverables for the cross-functional team.

  • Monitor targets of interest; develop scenario forecasts based on expected milestone events and market dynamics; make recommendations to Sr. Director regarding next steps and identified opportunities.

  • Lead aspects of large projects (e.g., regional oversight, pricing, field force and regional OpEx, deep-dives on key assumptions) in support of Sr. Director.

  • Support Sr. Director by building transparent and credible revenue forecast models, including scenarios and sensitivities on potential ranges, risks and product strategies.

  • Enable sound decision-making by providing information and analyses, business insights, and recommendations.

  • Analyze individual pharmaceutical companies and market trends. Develop and recommend related strategies in support of Sr. Director.

  • Proactively seek out and evaluate new data sources, tools, and analytics to help improve forecast models, processes and techniques.

  • Perform company-specific and product-specific desk top research to further inform commercial assessments; support development and analysis of tailored external market research through third parties.

  • Support in creating key analyses and presentations for senior leadership and other stakeholders for business development investment decisions.

  • Must have ability to analyze and distill complex data and research to inform decisions and communicate effectively.

  • Attend industry conferences and meetings with specific companies by request.

  • Lead and/or participate in special projects in support of New Business as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Understands trends in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, aware of competitor strategies, knowledge of healthcare dynamics in the US and preferably other major global markets, understands the drug development process, and is attuned to market trends and strategies that could impact business development opportunities

  • Experience preparing concise pharmaceutical equity analyses/research reports to inform potential investors from the financial services industry (eg. investment banking, life sciences, venture capital firms, hedge funds, mutual funds)

  • Experience leading cross-functional, matrix project teams under tight timelines and high pressure; ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead with indirect authority

  • Highly proficient and experienced in using excel to develop pharmaceutical product forecast models and quantitative analyses

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize/multi-task effectively

  • Previous commercial assessment and product forecasting experience preferred

  • Solid analytical and strategic thinking; ability to translate strategy and analysis to a tactical, executable level

  • Ability to synthesize complex information and distill critical insights to inform commercial assessments

  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking to pressure test forecasts and build sensitivity analyses around key drivers

  • Credibility, accessibility, responsiveness and attention to detail a must.

  • Ability to effectively cope with changes, act decisively without complete information and be comfortable with risk and uncertainty

  • Bachelor's degree in Business (Marketing or Finance) or science required

  • MBA preferred (required if from a science or medical background)

  • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 20% travel)
