Pfizer Director, Public Affairs, Americas Region in New York, New York

ROLE SUMMARY

  • The Director for Public Affairs for Latin America will lead the development and execution of strategic public affairs initiatives to support Pfizer's Consumer Health business and other businesses in Latin America. In addition, they will also manage a portfolio of countries to serve as the primary point of contact for in-country Corporate Affairs leads for issues across all businesses.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead implementation of an above-country, strategic public affairs plan to shape the policy environment and position Pfizer with key stakeholders with the goal of enabling the execution of growth strategy in the region for PCH and other businesses.

  • Ensure clear action plans are in place with measureable deliverables and metrics and ensure adequate alignment with in-market public affairs and country leadership.

  • Represent Pfizer in PCH-related trade associations, such as ILAR, and other regional or country-specific organizations including shaping the agenda, leveraging existing opportunities or creating new ones, and mobilizing resources. Ensure proper communication and coordination internally with relevant colleague.

  • Identify external opportunities and platforms to strategically deploy Pfizer leadership. Development and execution of C-suite briefing.

  • Manage a portfolio of countries (country list TBD) and serve as the primary point of contact for in-country Corporate Affairs leads for issues across all businesses. Ensure proper coordination with

  • Proactively monitor elections, emerging trends, and other political or economic developments in the regional and country-specific policy environment and prepare informational materials for management as well as response strategies for the countries in the portfolio.

  • Provide strategic direction to in-market teams in the creation and execution of local public affairs strategy and/or direct support to in-market teams, as needed.

  • Recruit and train high caliber in-country corporate affairs leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree required. Advanced Degree in public policy, international affairs, political science, and/or law strongly preferred.

  • Significant experience in public affairs, government affairs, trade policy and/or health care. Experience in Latin America preferred. Must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in combined public policy, government relations, and public affairs. Experience in another regulated industry and emerging markets a plus. Exposure to the international public affairs environment a must.

  • Exceptional command of English language and executive writing is required. Fluency in Spanish is required.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Role will require balancing work in both Madison, NJ, and New York Headquarters.

  • International travel required.
