Pfizer Sr. Associate, CORE Operations Projects in New York, New York

As the Sr. Associate, CORE Operations Projects, you will partner with colleagues in CORE Operations and Controllers to ensure the most efficient and effective practices are followed throughout the organization. You will be responsible for participation in a wide variety of areas impacting the monthly financial close process within CORE Operations. Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating activities between the various functional areas within CORE Operations and identifying short/long term opportunities to facilitate and execute process enhancements in a team setting. As such, success is dependent on a thorough understanding of the quarterly close process, impact of accounting issues, applicable systems involved and internal control, in order to implement the appropriate process and/or system revisions. The ability to quickly identify problems and structure solutions, to plan and prioritize work on multiple projects, while maintaining high quality and meeting or exceeding deadlines is critical in this role.

Business Transformation/Continuous Improvement

  • Champions project management disciplines and assists with providing the processes, structures, and tools for all projects within CORE Operations

  • Assists on special projects outside of CORE Operations as necessary related to business acquisitions and divestitures, financial systems implementations or changes in accounting policy

  • Works with the team to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and communication for each project

  • Works with the team to ensure timelines are adhered to for special projects/initiatives and keeps leadership apprised of any issues

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to develop detailed action plans / project plans in support of the strategies established

  • Supports development of clear case for change, desired outcomes, accurate scope, clear roles and decision-making

  • Supports and helps to facilitate the quarterly CI forum to help drive continuous improvement projects across CORE Operations

CORE Operations Metrics

  • Works with cross functional teams to assist with the development of key performance indicators, metrics and reports for tracking of current performance of CORE Operations

  • Assists with the identification of the root cause on performance issues and process bottlenecks

Internal Controls

  • Assists with the management of all SOX/audit activities for CORE Operations with responsibility for coordination with audit teams and Financial Controls teams on quarterly updates and annual testing

  • Works to continually challenge the internal control process to ensure the most efficient and effective approach and assist with implementation of changes as necessary

  • Assists with holding Business Process Owners accountable maintaining a strong internal control environment within CORE Operations

  • Works with GRCC to ensure alignment within Controllers

  • Works with internal and external auditors as necessary to help facilitate timely completion of audits

Financial Data Certification

  • Assists with the quarterly Financial Data Certification to include the following:

  • Update and review of coverage file to ensure adequate coverage is obtained

  • Tie out of all certifications received to ensure amounts agree to coverage file

  • Development of communications to key stakeholders to ensure alignment

  • Help to facilitate process improvements on a quarterly basis to ensure the most efficient process is followed

  • Development of presentations to inform leadership of quarterly certification status

  • Assist with the development of GMX and Webform certifications and, once established, help to maintain these processes going forward on a quarterly basis

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting

CPA preferred

3-5 years of combined experience with a Big 4 accounting firm and/or financial reporting capacity within a large multi-national company

  • Audit Experience highly preferred

  • Demonstrated project management skills within Finance/Accounting discipline

  • High level of knowledge and experience in Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate business strategies into financial concepts/processes

  • Strong organizational skills; manages own time to meet objectives; forecasts and plans; must be able to multi-task.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Proactive and brings new and innovate ideas forward routinely; independently leverages outside sources of information (benchmarking, external literature/resources, internal/external colleague networks) to promote continuous improvement

  • Understands business operations to be able to effectively interpret financial outcomes, identify issues, train colleagues and assist in driving change where necessary

Experience working with multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to partner and support others without having a direct reporting relationship.
