Pfizer Sr. Manager, MQA Outsourcing and Training Lead in New York, New York


The Vendor Oversight and Training Lead is accountable for the oversight of vendors and individual contractors conducting audits on behalf of QA and contributes to the development and implementation of robust sourcing strategies for the MQA Organization. The Lead will ensure appropriate alignment of deliverables for the associated projects/audits. This is accomplished through close partnership within QA and across Pfizer Medical, Business -Portfolios, Research Units, Partner Lines and other stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

Relationship Management and Oversight of Contract Vendors Conducting Audits on Behalf of MQA, as applicable

  • Lead outsourcing strategy to ensure attainment of the audit goals for MQA

  • Defines outsourcing budget requirements as part of the MQA operation plan process

  • Monitors and tracks outsourcing expenses against the approved budget, signaling any significant deviations in cost to the MQA leadership team and Finance

  • Manages the Purchase Orders for specific Service Agreements / Work Orders with QA service providers and ensures costs are managed within the budget allocation established by QA leadership and approved in Purchase Order

  • Point of accountability for global coordination to on-board new vendors/contractors as required by evolving Worldwide Research & Development operational sourcing strategies to ensure appropriate operational systems are in place (e.g., staff training, technology, and quality)

  • Works closely with the Business Excellence and Operations Head and Audit Resourcer to operationalize the responsibilities related to relationship management and oversight of vendors conducting audits on behalf of QA

  • Ensures required training on audit management systems and business processes is delivered to all vendor staff supporting QA contracted work activities and that vendor is compliant with training requirements.

  • Oversees the performance of vendors conducting audits on behalf of MQA. Ensures contracted work deliverables / service levels meet established terms, conditions, and performance standards and provides feedback to vendors on same. Escalates and resolves quality and/or service issues with applicable QA and vendor representatives

  • Identifies and leads continuous improvement sessions with vendor to optimize performance and enhance partnership with QA, as needed

Relationship Management with Preferred Providers

  • Serves as the primary point of contact within MQA to the Preferred Providers

  • Oversees the process for Preferred Provider audit plans and report distribution to key internal and external stakeholders

  • Partners with Level 1 organization to identify best practices, share audit metrics and streamline operations and communications across groups

  • Partners with MQA vendor lead to identify trends, challenges and opportunities to enhance business processes as it relates to the Preferred Partners

Provide process support for MQA due diligence and integration activities

  • Partner with the MQA integration lead to coordinate the implementation of the integration playbook and integration playbook

  • Partner with the due diligence lead to manage and support the tracking of due diligence activities


  • Coordinate the design, creation and implementation of training materials in support of MQA processes and procedures

  • Assist with the definition of the training needs of colleagues and vendors with regards to procedures, policies and systems, and the development of training plans to meet the needs of the business.

  • Manage the core training assignments for MQA and oversee training compliance

  • Ensure availability and awareness of training materials/plans, user guides/job aids, product training and brochures to foster the most appropriate use of resources.

  • Collaborate with Training Leaders to ensure timely assignment of training requirements.

  • Coordinate training assignments in the appropriate systems (P2L, LARS)

Preferred Training and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred

  • Consulting / continuous improvement expertise, a plus

  • 8+ years of relevant experience

  • Excellent project management, presentation development and communication skills

  • Global perspective within the context of business needs and impact

  • Demonstrated business acumen and solid understanding of the business processes of the MQA organization

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, respond to tight timelines, and meet frequently changing priorities

  • Customer-oriented approach and ability to effectively work in cross-functional teams

  • Proven experience in contributing to the planning and implementation of processes to optimize business operations

  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work in matrixed environment

  • Strong collaboration, relationship management, and interpersonal skills
