Pfizer Senior Associate Scientist in Richmond, Virginia

Individuals will conduct scientific experiments to support the development of global consumer health and wellness products. Collaboratively designs and properly executes scientific experiments according to written and verbal instructions. Possesses proven written and oral communication skills and organizational skills.

  • Under limited supervision designs and conducts scientific studies to support the development of prototype formulations and provide solutions to complex technical problems.

  • Follow general instructions to complete assignments that contribute to the completion of projects.

  • Analyze data and prepare technical reports under supervision.

  • Record experimental details and data into an electronic laboratory notebook.

  • Lead internal departmental and/or R&D initiatives and/or committees.

  • Assist with training of other scientists on specific procedures or techniques.

  • Read and understand SOPs and BOPs and follow policy, procedures and applicable government regulations.

  • Critically review the work, data and records generated by fellow scientists.

  • Utilized the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to capture the results of analytical testing and/or to submit samples for testing.

Performs other duties as assigned.

The position requires a BS degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or a related field of physical science, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience or an MS degree with a minimum of one year of relevant experience or equivalent relevant work experience.

Individuals should have training and practical laboratory skills and a mastery of a body of technical knowledge in one or more scientific areas. Preferred candidates should also demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), USP/NF monographs and testing procedures is desired, as well as proficiency in computer applications for data acquisition, data analysis and report generation.
