Pfizer Senior Scientist, Biology, T Cell Immunotherapy in San Francisco, California


We are seeking to hire an energetic and collaborative PhD scientist with demonstrated expertise in cellular immunology, immuno-oncology, and/or cellular therapies to join our team and contribute to exciting research to enhance allogeneic Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cell function in solid tumor microenvironments.


  • Contribute to the overall advancement and success of our allogeneic CAR T cell research program through collaboration across functions and projects

  • Develop, investigate and implement novel technologies (synthetic biology, gene regulation or similar) to enhance the function, migration and persistence of allogeneic CAR T cell products

  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative in troubleshooting experiments and accurate data analysis

  • Stay current on the latest scientific literature relevant to cellular therapies, cellular engineering, and cellular immunology

  • Organize, interpret, and present results in small and large group meetings and to site management

  • Contribute to a dynamic, exciting culture that embraces teamwork and innovation

  • Effectively collaborate with other scientists within Rinat's protein engineering and immuno-oncology groups, as well as supporting partner lines.


  • Ph.D. degree in immunology or related fields with 2+ years of experience

  • Candidates with prior experience in industry or a high-profile academic lab preferred

  • Prior experience in the field of cellular immunotherapies highly preferred

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of basic immunology techniques is required, including mammalian cell culture, FACS, immunofluorescence, ELISA, cytokine and chemokine detection

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques is required

  • Experience with design and execution of in vivo mouse tumor models is preferred

  • Experience in the field of synthetic biology or protein engineering is preferred

  • Experience in design and generation of retroviral and/or lentiviral vectors and other gene transfer methods is preferred

  • Experience in design and generation of gene-editing technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9 and/or TALENs is desirable

  • Proficiency in the use of software to support data analysis such as FlowJo, FACSDiva, GraphPad Prism, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

Must be willing to work with human blood, retroviral and HIV-derived lentiviral vectors, other viral-based vectors such as adeno-associated virus (AAV) under biosafety level 2+ guidelines. Ability to drive and access to a car helpful for travel between buildings, but not required.
