The Pfizer Adelaide facility employs 100 people and is a very diverse site with 23 different nationalities represented. The site is a world leader in the manufacture of microbial biosimilars and recombinant proteins, with more than 25 years' experience with E.coli based processes. We have worked with more than 30 customers globally in the last 15 years for contract manufacturing services and the site has recently completed a major refurbishment in readiness for commercial manufacturing and the launch of a product for the global market.
This position is responsible for managing the personnel and budget for the Engineering department, overseeing all the routine operations for the facility and utilities and ensuring compliance with all of the GxP engineering systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
Quality system management, staff training and implementation of strategies to improve equipment performance and drive cost efficiencies.
Ensure facility and utility modifications are carried out in accordance with regulatory guidelines, Pfizer standards and industry regulations. Assist in the preparation of project plans, timelines, Request for Capital Expenditure, User Requirement and functional Design Specifications and participate in the validation of new or modified utilities or equipment. This requires project management, hands-on involvement, document writing and supplier liaison; and ensuring that any changes are updated on PID, process and architectural diagrams.
Manage all equipment and utilities calibration and maintenance activities undertaken by engineering staff. Ensure procedures are carried out according to calibration and maintenance Work Order due dates and any deviations are investigated.
Ensure Engineering staff comply with site GMP and EHS systems, i.e. change control procedures, deviations, corrective and preventative actions, training and out of specification investigations.
Develop a proactive approach to minimise down time due to equipment malfunction, including enhancing preventative maintenance and other FMEA activities. Prepare or review operational or safety risk assessments of all Engineering-related activities and ensure proposed additional controls are implemented within agreed timeframes and all recommended spare parts are held on site.
To be considered for this opportunity you will have:
Tertiary qualification in Engineering or relevant discipline.
Significant experience in pharmaceutical engineering, preferably 10 years or more.
Experience in cGMP and classified clean room environments.
Management experience is required.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
