Pfizer Plant Engineer in Andover, Massachusetts
Pfizer Andover Ma is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individual for a Senior Mechanical Engineer position that can demonstrate the successful delivery of detailed mechanical design packages on capital projects. In addition to the basic qualifications listed below, the successful candidate shall possess the skills required to successfully develop and execute project tasks and deliverables, be a collaborative team player, handle multiple complex tasks, establish and manage priorities, and have a strong drive to deliver a quality project for customers.
Required engineering capabilities include the ability to develop and implement engineering and design concepts for HVAC, Plant Steam / Condensate, and process utilities. The candidate shall also have a thorough understanding of the development of design documents and deliverables through the conceptual, preliminary, detailed, and construction phases of a project (P&;IDs, distribution plans, specifications, etc.). This person will be responsible for coordinating with internal and external architects and engineers, as well as the client, asset managers, construction managers, vendors, and subcontractors. Project sizes will vary and consist primarily of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or industrial process projects including existing building renovations / retrofits and new construction.
The ideal candidate will have previous facility design experience in a Pharmaceutical or similar GMP/GxP clean room environment and must have a deep technical understanding and knowledge of various HVAC systems within a GMP/GxP environment, Plant Steam / condensate system design and troubleshooting and all associated piping, pumping, heat transfer and distribution that make up the system. Familiarity with Process Gases, (Compressed Air, CO2 and O2), and technical knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) will also be an advantage.
- • Developing Conceptual and Basis of Design level design approaches inclusive of high level scope and cost estimations to be used for capital and expense project funding• Ensures compliance with local, state, federal, and international codes and regulations.• Provide technical engineering support for GMP/GxP utilities to Asset Managers and front line operations.• Review equipment shop drawings for conformance to site and project specifications.• Create, edit, review and approve project drawings.• Develop scopes and drawings for various projects.• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and P&;IDs. Ability to update as required for change control and accuracy.• Aggressively support and adhere to site safety goals, procedures, requirements and initiatives• Maintain detailed project schedule of all tasks inclusive of milestones and projected time-lines to assist in resource loading and visual management.• Developing Mechanical / Utility equipment and construction specifications.• Performing temperature / humidity control / utility load calculations.• Basic understanding of building management system (BMS) control philosophies, components, Sequence of Operations• Developing utility consumption summaries for plant utilities.• Developing P&;ID's, equipment plans, plant / process utility distribution plans, and system details.• Performing construction assistance in the form of submittal reviews, RFI responses, and field visits to verify construction of Mechanical / Utilities scope is executed per the intent of the design, and assisting in start-up of systems when required.• Managing and developing Mechanical / Utilities scope for project budgets and schedules.
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred• Engineering Degree• 8+ years of project experience required as a lead engineer on design projects involving core utilities in industrial facilities inclusive of a minimum of two (2) years mechanical systems experience in a GMP/GxP setting.• Demonstrated experience in project management and organizational skills.• Experience in troubleshooting, design and specification of HVAC, plant utility, and steam systems required.• Experience in BAS control concepts and basic system P&;IDs required.• Experience researching and interoperating building/mechanical/plumbing/electrical codes required.• Excellent communication skills in all forms (face-to-face, telephone, video, and written) required.• Ability to understand and work within a regulated GMP/GxP or similar environment.
