Pfizer Quality Engineer (2nd shift Mon in Andover, Massachusetts

ROLE SUMMARY

The role provides technical support to the plant floor execution activities and project work in support of plant floor operations. The role is mutually (in partnership with the Shift People Leader) accountable for the knowledge, tools and systems that deliver right first time (RFT) execution and zero defects.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to front-line staff to increase their technical acumen and competency.

  • Drive application of Pfizer Human Performance (PHP) principles to procedure and equipment design to ensure zero defects.

  • Lead troubleshooting activities, provide investigation support, analyze process data, and identify and implement process improvements.

  • Leverage lean and six-sigma tools to drive improvement in the department and site.

  • Identify and implement new technologies to support right first time execution and zero defects.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • On the plant floor to assess operational knowledge, tools, systems and equipment.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to front-line staff to increase competency of the plant floor.

  • Drive application of Pfizer Human Performance principles to procedure and equipment design and use to ensure zero defects.

  • Proactive and real-time support of critical operations

  • Analyze data from multiple sources; investigations, daily/weekly KPIs, equipment/process performance, etc. and develop a strategy for shift to improve performance.

  • Promote a safety, compliance and continuous improvement culture

  • Drive changes that support Right First Time, Efficiency and/or reduced costs.

  • Initiate and lead investigations in support of manufacturing operations

QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS in chemical engineering, Minimum of 4 years relevant experience with engineering degree or , MS +2 yrs

Minimum of 6 years relevant experience with science degree or MS +4 yrs

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a GMP manufacturing environment

  • Familiarity and experience with downstream purification process such as UF/DF, and Chromatography experience.

  • Experience with Six Sigma, Method 1, 5S and/or other operational excellence programs a plus.

  • Familiarity with aseptic technique and microbial control a plus

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Work will include walking throughout the manufacturing suite.

Perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis

Ability to don cleanroom gowning

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

The role requires work on 2nd shift and occasional weekend work.

The role requires work in a GMP manufacturing suite which requires gowning.

Supervision

No responsibility for direct reports. The position will have lead role for projects.
