Pfizer Associate Scientist, BioMedicine Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts
An Associate Scientist is needed in the BioMedicine Design department to support the Molecular Design, Profiling and Production group. In this role the bench scientist will contribute towards the selection of high quality Biotherapeutics using biophysical and analytical techniques to support portfolio projects. This position plays a critical role in selection of potential therapeutics with optimal properties by identifying liabilities early to inform optimization.
The Associate Scientist will perform activities related to characterization of biotherapeutics such as antibodies, bispecifics, Fc-fusions, and other modalities. The scientist will extensively characterize proteins using a defined staged approach to molecular assessment. A suite of assays are in place designed to triage and de-select proteins that have poor stability and potential problems with developability. The role will also include prioritizing leads based on behavior at high concentration and assessing chemical liabilities.
Bachelor's Degree with 0-2 years of experience
Basic skills at the bench and a foundation for general scientific practices
Knowledge of biochemistry and related hand's on laboratory experience
The position requires keen attention to detail (analytical-minded) and ability to multi-task efficiently
Ability to learn new techniques quickly and follow established protocols with precision
Perform tasks under close supervision with frequent review of results
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Desired skills include micro pipetting, gel electrophoresis, column chromatography
Skills that are a plus, but not required include techniques such as DSC, DLS, aSEC, iCE, cGE
