Pfizer Senior Scientist, Inflammation & Immunology in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Pfizer Inflammation & Immunology (I&I) Department aims to develop novel therapeutics to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The successful candidate for this position will be a key contributor in projects dedicated to the investigation of novel targets for therapeutic intervention and mechanism of action of lead molecules in relevant cellular systems with a primary focus on T cells. This position will be an integral part of a drug discovery team and will be accountable for the in-depth understanding of the immune cell biology that connects drug targets with diseases of interest with emphasis in T cells. The role will also include in vitro characterization and validation of selected targets and pharmacological characterization of small molecules and biologics.


  • Design, perform and interpret experimental studies to understand the biology relevant to disease for target validation in immune cells with a primary focus on T cells

  • Establish essential immunological in vitro/in vivo models and assays, suitable for the evaluation of small molecules and biologics

  • Work within an interdisciplinary project team as a key biologist to coordinate and perform experimental work for the development of novel therapeutics

  • Identify and evaluate novel therapeutic targets both in collaboration with other colleagues within Pfizer including biologists, geneticists, and chemists as well as by actively engaging external collaborators.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's with 10+, Master's with 7+, or PhD with 0-3 years postdoctoral or industrial experience in Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or other related biology area required.

  • Demonstration of effective written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in designing and performing immunological studies such as isolation of immune cells, immune effector cell assays and a familiarity with FACS technology is essential.

  • Experience with primary immune cells including T cells.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree and industry experience preferred

  • Proven publication record is highly desirable
