Pfizer Senior Scientist, Software Developer in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Senior Scientist, Software Developer will be responsible for development and maintenance of tools, interfaces, and algorithms supporting the Medicinal Sciences organization. Primary responsibilities will be on in-house development work, with a mix of some support for commercial tools. The successful candidate will also assist end users with training/use of internal tools. These interactions will provide an understanding of how to improve tools to better support users' needs. Additionally, the individual will work on a variety of smaller projects, enabling/simplifying workflows, prototyping novel algorithms, testing new technologies, etc. A background in the life-sciences with excellent communication skills will be helpful for success in this position.
Expertise developing/supporting web-based applications, focused on responsive, interactive user interfaces.
Demonstrable programming ability plus experience in one or more of these technologies: java, python, groovy/grails, react (or other modern web technology stacks).
Ability to communicate clearly within a development team and to end users.
PhD with 0-3 years of experience, Master's Degree with 3-6 years of experience or a Bachelor's Degree with 5-8 years of experience with a concentration in Computer Science or a related discipline
Expertise as a scientific programmer - particularly with web technologies - developing responsive user interfaces, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry
Experience with java and python
Team player - able to work as part of a larger development team and/or directly with end users.
Excellent communication skills are a must.
Strong Linux and Windows skills.
Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks, dynamically determining priority based on need, while keeping all customers apprised of the status of their request(s).
Knowledge/experience with relational (Oracle/MySQL) and non-relational database technologies.
Expertise in C/C++, Objective-C, .NET.
