Pfizer Senior Medical Director, Global Medical Affairs Hemophilia, Rare Disease (MD) in Collegeville, Pennsylvania

The Senior Medical Director is responsible for providing product expertise for Hemophilia in-line and pipeline assets as well as understanding patients' and clinicians' points of view. The Senior Director provides support for the development of strategies and data generation and is accountable for ensuring that medical plans supporting the product are successfully developed to achieve short- and long-term objectives in alignment with overall business goals. He/she partners with external experts to inform business planning and development of medicine.

Specific responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactively incorporates patients' & physicians' voice in the development of medical strategies & tactics as well as the needs of customers, including payers.

  • Ensure effective cross-functional alignment in customer facing activities and represent Pfizer externally.

  • Support development and execution of medical strategies for phase IV research, publication planning, and advisory board implementation.

  • Contribute to data generation/analyses and ensures medical and scientific accuracy of manuscripts and abstracts/posters.

  • Provides medical support and input on labeling and regulatory interactions in preparation of launch of medicine.

  • Support activities related to safety evaluations and reporting requirements.

  • Ensure Medical accuracy of content for promotional materials and sales training. Coordinate medical support for concept development. Provide Global commercial support in the development of promotional activities. Partner with legal and regulatory colleagues to ensure compliant and accurate content. Ensure high quality medical content of all promotional activities.

  • Provide medical information on existing and emerging data in response to questions from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Contributes to the development and presentation of operating plans.

  • Ensures medical strategies are aligned into the commercial strategy and its implementation, where appropriate

  • Engage on peer basis with medical directors of independent networks and other healthcare providing entities to develop mutually beneficial solutions enhancing patient care.

  • Ensure seamless delivery of medical plans for Xyntha/ReFacto AF through alignment, support, and execution of activities across regions

  • Be an active contributor to regional medical leads meeting, medical science committee, global medicine committee as well as regulatory working groups, manufacturing labeling team CDS, SmPC and RMP updates

  • Ensure seamless delivery of medical plans for emerging assets in hemophilia : Anti-TFPI and Gene therapy through alignment across functions providing an end-to end collaboration between RU, GPD and GMA along with regions

  • Coordinate the annual ASPIRE - Advancing Science through Pfizer - Investigator Research Exchange program, "Gene & Anti-TFPI Therapies in Hemophilia"

  • Work with Medical Grants on the Visiting Professor and Grand Rounds programs

  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with Hemophilia external community - HCPs and Pts

  • Demonstrate consistent leadership and medical professionalism with participation at Congresses, Conferences and External Interactions

  • Develop RD Hemophilia Training academy modules to train internal RD MA colleagues and external slide decks for HCPs/Pts

  • Contribute to Project Alchemy strategic initiatives e.g. "Creating a seamless connection between RU and Medical Affairs" in hemophilia.


  • Medical Terminal Degree (MD, DO, MBBS, etc.)

  • Significant industry and research experience, including a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in clinical and/or health services research (preferably in the pharmaceutical industry)

  • Understanding of the drug development process

  • Knowledge of health care economics and its impact on medical decision making

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Professional demeanor & excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with external customers/internal colleagues

  • Customer-oriented approach and ability to work in cross-functional teams
