Pfizer Manager, Chemistry Data Management Lead in Groton, Connecticut
The Chemistry Data Management Lead role has accountability for chemistry data solutions and services to the Medicinal Sciences line. The role involves leading the definition of chemistry data related IT strategies and associated projects to ensure data integrity, aggregation, and access. The role will require leading multi-discipline teams to achieve project and services goals. Key services will include support to chemistry data workflow and curation needs, integration of chemistry data from external sources, and enabling chemistry data registration in support of strategic Medicinal Sciences collaborations with external partners.
Required in this role is a person who combines a strong customer focus with knowledge of the internal chemistry systems, data and associated technologies.
This role is responsible for leading global chemistry data activities for Medicinal Sciences. It encompasses the following main areas of activity:
Project Leadership: Working with chemistry customers and DSP (Design, Synthesis, Purification) BT Team, leads assembly of chemistry data management strategies and associated projects. Will require leading multi-discipline teams.
Working with Business clients - builds strong relationships with clients to develop strategic direction, evaluate and execute projects, and support and optimize their workflows.
Curation Leadership - working with other DWS team members, responsible for the execution of timely and accurate chemistry curations submitted via HelpDesk or by other BT-supported application mechanisms.
Leads Chemistry data integration and management efforts as part of external collaboration agreements, liasing with appropriate scientific, business development, legal and business technology colleagues as needed.
Aligns BT services with current and future needs of the business and its customers while improving quality of services delivered.
Works as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, document, communicate, and validate business workflow needs and requirements for changes.
Assists in the investigation and resolution of problems relating to applications. Assists with specified maintenance procedures.
Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
Required experience / education
A college degree in Chemistry, computer science or science field is required. Advanced degree desired.
Demonstrated experience in setting technology oriented strategic direction and leading delivery of projects
5+ years of experience in similar roles in technology or science based organizations
Experience in a Chemistry laboratory environment using scientific applications for Chemistry in a research environment
Experience with data analysis, query and visualization tools such as Pipeline Pilot, BioviaDraw/ChemDraw, D360/Vortex
Experience with Oracle Databases and SQL, PL/SQL languages
Structural data curation experience
Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills
Strong communication abilities
Strong customer relationship building abilities
Ability to relate technology solutions to scientific problems
