Pfizer Sr Manager / Team Leader in Kalamazoo, Michigan

ROLE SUMMARY

Provide effective leadership for the process automation engineering team supporting the Modular Aseptic Processing (MAP) facility design, construction, start-up and operation. Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine best strategic technologies to meet the goal of establishing the "Digital Plant of the Future". Major responsibilities include the control systems for freeze dryers, aseptic filling, packaging, and automated inspection process equipment. In addition, the group is responsible for the environmental monitoring and control of classified spaces.

Manage Colleagues in Process Automation who will perform the following:

  • Participate in the design, development, deployment, integration, maintenance and validation for all site automation and related systems, data acquisition systems, and recipe management and electronic work instruction systems.

  • Support the goals, objectives and projects of PGS at the Kalamazoo site. This includes all capital expansions as well as daily optimization of manufacturing and business processes.

  • Deliver 24x7 troubleshooting and maintenance support for all PA systems.

  • Deliver on all phases of a project to include estimating, requirements definition, specification, design, hardware purchase, assembly and installation, code development, validation, training, cutover to production, and continued enhancement.

  • Develop thorough documentation to support commissioning and qualification efforts including master and project validation plans, specifications, protocols, reports, standard operating procedures and guidelines.

  • Manage contract resources to support capital and expense projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 14 years related experience with BA/BS in engineering or equivalent OR 12 years related experience with MBA/MS in engineering or equivalent OR 9 years related experience with PhD in engineering or equivalent.

  • Experience in a pharmaceutical / FDA-regulated manufacturing environment.

  • A working knowledge of cGMP and facility/equipment validation requirements.

  • Demonstrated commitment to values-based leadership and achieving objectives in a manner that is supportive of the Pfizer values and leader behaviors.

  • Demonstrated leadership, management and technical capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and administer estimates, budgets, schedules, and apply resources to accomplish projects on schedule. Ability to manage multiple priorities and a successful track record of managing projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the Pfizer organization.

  • Knowledge of programming: Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Vision systems (Systech and Cognex) and robotic controls preferred.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Travel will be required to support the MAP project. Percent of travel will vary dependent on project deliverables.
