ROLE SUMMARY

The Operational Excellence Manager will be heavilly involved in Lean Six Sigma initiatives and projects within Drug Product Operations. This includes Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt, Process Capability Assessments, Lean Manufacturing Standard Work, Visual Management, and developing and coaching colleagues through leadership as culture change agents.

The mission for the Operational Excellence position is to: Inspire a culture of continuous improvement that empowers colleagues and enables processes to function efficiently and effectively.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The role includes proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement through data analysis and collection of the Inspection and processing steps including defect rates and types. Also promoting process understanding through DMAIC projects and generating excitement in other colleagues through various forms of communication and success sharing.

  • A primary responsibility in this position is to demonstrate, teach, coach and develop colleagues to embrace continuous improvement as a way of doing business by supporting use of the DMAIC structure for data driven decisions.

  • Leading/coaching project teams or facilitating investigations to support: production commitments for supply, reducing probability of backorders, maintaining safety stock, cost reduction/avoidance, efficiency improvements, introduction of new products, and reduction of compliance risk are daily responsibilities of the role.

  • Possible participation in the site wide Glass Management team (also known as Primary Component team)

  • Role will also support other Drug Product Operations areas as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in science or engineering related field and 5 years related experence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pharmaceutical or manufacturing experience and strong, demonstrated technical skills exhibited in a cGMP environment desired. Specific knowledge of and experience with Medical Device processing and Inspection processes is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated skills in performing data/quantitative analysis, team facilitation,effective communications, attention to details and follow through. Strong leadership and change management abilities, as well as oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and mentor colleagues and manage diverse relationships is desired.

  • Lean Six Sigma manufacturing experience, a proven track record of providing effective training, as well as Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly desired.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate will be required to gown and execute responsibilities according to departmental procedures. Job will include standing, walking and sitting. Occasional lifting may be required.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

This position could require frequent time in the manufacturing areas around production equipment and may also require weekend or off-shift work to support project demands and timelines.

Up to 5% domestic or international travel.
