Pfizer Sr Manager, US Marketing, Opioids & Syringe Technology in Lake Forest, Illinois


This role within Pfizer's Global Established Pharma (GEP) in the GEP Sterile Injectable (SI) group will have full P&L responsibility for a $500M business and will seek to grow the Opioid and Syringe portfolio within the US. The Senior Manager - Opioid and Syringe Product Portfolio will drive P&L, sales and operating income; be responsible for overall short and long term strategic/tactical plans for market access to include group purchasing organizations (GPO) and integrated delivery networks (IDN) contracting; provide strategic and tactical leadership by setting the vision for the business, energizing cross-functional team members and aligning across functions to accomplish the vision.

The Senior Manager will serve as the single point of accountability for the US business and as such is expected to set the strategic direction against which a broad range of cross-functional contributors will execute to maximize the value of the portfolio to Pfizer. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Portfolio - s/he is expected to communicate regularly with senior management regarding portfolio performance and strategic direction and to be able to have strong strategic agility to adjust plans as needed based on in market response and results. Informed by a review of market dynamics and insights regarding drivers of performance, the Senior Manager will lead the development and implementation of commercial strategies for the US business. The focus is on quickly building market share, prioritizing investments,

executing on the operating plan, and being the lead for the portfolio to all cross functional partners, including various field forces.


►P&L responsibility; accountable for net sales and direct marketing expenses; lead development and execution of the operating plan including management of portfolio performance

►Single point of accountability for the portfolio for the field force

including providing strategic direction and ensuring selling materials are effective; the development and operationalization of the operating plan to deliver against revenue, income before taxes (IBT), and expense goals for the product portfolio

►Maintain and nurture a positive and proactive interaction among the Portfolio team, other functional teams, and strategic partners (e.g. agencies, alliance organizations, customers as applicable) to ensure cooperation, shared responsibility in commercialization activities, and ultimately business performance; sustain customer and field engagement - with motivation, focus and clarity

►Ensure relevant brand, customer, and competitive insights are

surfaced and appropriately integrated into brand plans; prioritize

execution of brand strategies to drive the maximum value

►Coordinate with National Accounts to drive brand value with

organized customers (Key strategic customers and integrated

delivery network/IDN)

►Work in close collaboration with finance and business analytics and insights to develop brand revenue forecasts, track brand performance and of key drivers; closely align with finance, supply chain and production sites on budgets, latest estimates, forecasts, accruals and customer demand; interact regularly with sales/account, medical, legal, regulatory and multiple external agency partners to ensure flawless execution of core strategies and tactics


►Bachelor's degree in business, science or related field; MBA or

Master's degree preferred

►5+ years in marketing and/or selling pharmaceutical products into the hospital, alternate site, or IDN or acute care center environment

Proven Experience In:

►Market Access initiatives, contracting with GPOs and IDNs, working with trade (wholesalers and distributors)

►Pricing analysis and determination, particularly with GPOs

►P&L responsibility


►US focus, not global

►Product/portfolio valuation, business case development, project

management, product forecasting, cost of goods sold, pricing


►Classical branding and marketing expertise, to leverage customer perceptions of differentiation and maintain brand loyalty in a highly competitive category; analytic and strategic thinking to lead evaluation and prioritization of investment options - including SI&A, and field investment (which is shared with other products)
