Pfizer I&I Professional Relations Team Lead in New York City, New York
The Professional Relations Leader will enhance our category leadership across Inflammation and Immunology (I&I) by creating and developing a deep opinion leader strategy across three therapeutic areas (RA, GI and Dermatology) and leading the Professional Relations team.
The head of I&I Professional relations is responsible for leading the development of the organizational priority of establishing I&I as the premier pharmaceutical company within the Rheumatology, Dermatology, and GI specialties. Within the purview of this role will be
Developing the strategic plan for building and advancing the external engagement plan for I&I, North America.
Oversee the work of the Sr. Director Professional Relations Leads with accountability for the development and execution of the Rheumatology, Dermatology, and Gastroenterology Professional Relations plans.
Advancement of the I&I NA plan to establish I&I as a key partner in meeting shared goals of delivering value to patients and the healthcare system.
Partner with Government Relations, Policy, Medical, and Commercial colleagues to develop and advance a strategic plan to deliver on I&I business objectives.
Lead the development of the cross-therapeutic area engagement plan for national and regional KOLs
Aligning HCP interactions with Pfizer across regions and business units.
Build the capability for nurturing long lasting relationships to enable our vision and aspiration of market leadership, especially as it relations to building a strong reputation
Align the North American Professional Relations Strategic Plan with the I&I medical, marketing, sales, and commercial development priorities.
Oversee the development and maintenance of operating procedures to ensure that all activities are consistent with Pfizer's highest standards for compliance and integrity.
This role will report to the North American President for Inflammation & Immunology
The Professional Relations Leader serves as the functional lead and point of contact for customer engagement interactions, and as the face of Pfizer Inc to external Opinion Leaders (OL) in the United States. These responsibilities include:
Leading the KOL strategy that yields optimal advocacy relationships with key customers
Creating and leading a customer engagement plan
Enabling a "One Pfizer" experience for these OLs by ensuring all functions are aware of key activities with OLs
Oversee the development of an aligned approach for Opinion Leader and Advocacy engagement across I&I
Partnering with Medical, Commercial, and Public Affairs colleagues to cultivate influential thought leaders
Advance the development of a process for creating and maintaining a relationship management plan for external engagements
Overseeing the colleagues responsible for developing and executing the professional relations plans for rheumatology, dermatology, and gastroenterology, including
annual advisory board plan for national, regional thought leaders that informs commercial strategy across customer groups, identify key data and research gaps, etc)
In collaboration with medical, lead and direct insight gathering among OLs including 1:1 engagements, small group meetings, and national and regional advisory boards to gather actionable commercial information
Developing peer-level relationships with key opinion leaders and regional customers
Engaging with key Opinion Leaders and serve as their primary point of contact for marketing (in partnership with brand team)
Conference planning for all US national and local congresses including:
Developing the national and regional commercial convention strategy and plan for relevant disease states.
Developing a plan for OL meetings & engagements at conventions that includes clear commercial objectives and key discussion points
Creating success metrics for the brand presence at these key meetings and then track vs. goals.
Leading the commercial presence at the national meetings
Creating tools/programs to enable field colleagues to have a presence at regional meetings as appropriate.
Identifying and leading strategic projects that will drive innovation while meeting key business objectives such as:
Identifying and implementing novel digital tools to enhance influencer interactions and provide longitudinal views on how we engage with someone over time
Based on insights from OLs and market research, developing cross-therapeutic area proposals for strategic national or local promotional projects
Partnering with global KOL management lead to ensure collaboration with key Opinion Leaders that are important to both the regional and global strategy
Development of a consistent Review Committee Process for Professional Relations Activities.
The Professional Relations Leader will drive the strategy across all three therapeutic areas and mange 3-4 direct reports as well as represent the team on the North America Leadership Team. In addition, the colleague will coordinate the team's efforts across all I&I cross functional teams (i.e.; Compliance, Global KOL Team etc.).
BS/BA degree required.
Minimum of 15-20 years in the pharmaceutical, biotech, device or diagnostic industry, including 7-10 years in Opinion Leader or advocacy relations, marketing or medical
Proven ability to build and maintain external and customer relations
Understanding of commercial, brand and franchise needs, including relevant scientific, medical, economic and policy-related matters related to this therapeutic area
Proven understanding of key trends in both internal and external environment
Ability to work in a changing regulatory environment
Extensive experience in the ability to effectively and successfully develop and deliver on a strategy and consistently get positive results
Proven ability to build, maintain and influence effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including marketing, medical affairs, public relations and global colleagues from medical and marketing
Proven ability to manage organizational complexities and breadth of issues
Ability to lead and represent the company and, where appropriate, to follow within a large complex organization and within small collaborative working teams
Sound judgment in critical decision making
Ability to manage multiple priorities with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Highest level of commitment to Pfizer's compliance culture.
Advanced degree preferred .
Experience in Gastroenterology, Dermatology or Rheumatology preferred.
Prior experience leading a team preferred.
