Pfizer Senior Manager, Global Product Development Communications in New York City, New York

The Senior Manager, Global Product Development Communications leads internal communications for the Global Product Development organization at Pfizer. The person in this role works closely with the Vice President, Medical and Global Product Development Communications; Chief of Staff to the Chief Development Officer; and GPD internal clients to plan and carry out strategic communications to support and advance GPD's objectives.The role calls for strong overall communications and professional skills including:

  • Creative execution of multimedia projects (video, slides, electronic signage and email graphics, intranet design elements, etc)

  • Intranet planning, oversight and management

  • Meeting planning and management

  • Outstanding writing and editing

  • Effective project management, budget and agency management

  • Partnering with internal leaders and clients on change management; process improvement; culture strengthening and evolution; and improving internal collaboration within GPD globally and with GPD and other organizations within Pfizer

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and follow through

  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects on rapidly moving deadlines

  • Surveying, metrics tracking and measurement

  • Ability to comprehend/effectively communicate complex business, scientific, medical and technical information, clearly and simply

  • Collaborate with diverse teams and bring fresh energy and ideas to communications activities.


  • Minimum required: Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years of experience in communications and demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering communications strategies and plans, or demonstrably equivalent skills in an exceptional setting. Experience in a corporate or other large, global, complex organization desirable. Experience in biopharmaceutical or life sciences communications a plus.

  • Proven track record of developing and delivering effective, creative communications to advance program and business goals

  • Strong writing, editing, project management and people skills; track record of reliable and timely communication planning and execution

  • Ability to work comfortably and persuasively with senior executives and across cross-functional teams; understanding of how communications advances business strategy

  • Strong verbal and presentation skills; ability to convey complex ideas to colleagues and external audiences

  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and strategic, analytical and leadership capabilities

  • Knowledge of and expertise in current and emerging social media and digital communications and trends

  • Tact and ability to appropriately handle sensitive or confidential information

  • Ability to work effectively and inclusively in teams with diverse internal and external stakeholders; influence/negotiation skills and relationship management capabilities are essential. Ability to represent a point of view a must.
