Pfizer Senior Manager, Publications Quality Control in New York City, New York

The Sr. Manager Publications Quality Control is a key member of the Medical Affairs Platform Strategy (MAPS) Operations & Effectiveness team, responsible for establishing and providing ongoing support for a Quality Control (QC) program focused on evaluating adherence and compliance with Pfizer's clinical publication policies and procedures across the Research and Business Unit Pfizer product portfolio. The team member will be accountable for oversight of the program in support of the CMC Affordable Care Act Physicians Payment Sunshine Act reporting. The team member will be responsible for identifying overall trends and proposing recommendations to improve QC processes and procedures. In addition, the team member will offer assistance as a publications system administrator with configuration of the financial module, record transfers, and oversight of the system access and architecture.

This position will support the Centralized Services/Team Leader and will partner with the Publication Specialists, Pfizer cross-functional colleagues including Medical/Clinical Affairs, Statistics, Global Health & Value, Corporate Compliance as well as colleagues employed by external preferred publication vendors, in conjunction with QC activities and related findings. In addition, the Sr. Manager will act as point of contact for all questions and clarifications related to QC findings, as well as retain responsibility for highlighting training/re-training needs, based on QC findings.

The Sr. Manager provides key services in the oversight and management of the Publication QC program. The Sr. Manager must bring a level of rigor and consistency in providing high-level service while ensuring compliance with the established procedures.

Serve as business process owner for providing support, training, and guidance on QC processes to members of the Publication Management Team:

  • Design, implement, and manage a publications QC program in support of CT37 (Publications SOP)

  • Analyze and report on results from the publications QC program and implement remediation plans to correct findings

  • Update publications QC programs in response to new regulations and quality standards

  • Oversee Centralized Services Team or Publications Management Team providing Publications-related QC support

  • Leverage findings from QC programs to provide input to Publication SOP, Working Instructions and Supporting Documents.

  • Develop innovative ideas for efficiencies in the QC program and act upon

Serve as manager providing support and guidance on Sunshine Act QC processes to members of the Centralized Services and Publication Management Team:

  • Manage program activities for the identification of physicians and transfers of value for Sunshine Act reporting for publications

  • Investigate and respond to physician Sunshine Act disputes

  • Design, implement, and document a Sunshine Act QC program in support of publications reporting

  • Oversee Centralized Services Team or Publications Management Team providing Sunshine Act-related QC support

  • Develop innovative ideas for efficiencies in the Sunshine Act QC program and act upon

Serve as publications system administrator providing support and guidance on business rules to members of the Centralized Services and Publications Management Team:

  • Manage drug folder creation and record transfers

  • Establishes and manages publication budget configuration process and partners with Publications Team for ad-hoc changes and publication budget forecasts

  • Develops annual publications contact data review and assists with system access queries

  • Provide system training for new Centralized Services and Publications Management Team members, as well as Agency Partners as needed

Basic Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience including 2-3 years of QA/QC experience

  • Understanding of Publication Disclosure and Authorship policies, strongly preferred

  • Strong technical skills including experience/ knowledge of user query tools (Excel), underlying reporting systems (eg. Business Objects), and databases (eg. Datavision)

  • Good oral and written communication skills are essential

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight

  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships of trust and credibility with colleagues internal and external to the Publication Management Team and to be seen as a partner with deep understanding of the publication process

  • Well organized, analytical, self-motivated individual with strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to anticipate needs, prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure work is thorough and accurate
