Pfizer Senior Manager, Solution Delivery in New York City, New York

As a member of the Global Business Intelligence - Solution Delivery team you will assist in creating an environment that is client driven where teamwork is paramount. Business Intelligence is a crucial driver for Pfizer's Commercial organization and our team provides the key commercial data and analytic solutions to drive our business forward. Our data and tools enable our field reps, account managers, commercial leaders and brand leaders to make important decisions on how they run their teams and where they focus their efforts.

In this position, you will be accountable for having a thorough and complete understanding of business intelligence needs for Pfizer Business Units as well as taking a leadership role in driving best practices, innovative thinking and strategic solutions within a Business Unit, as well as across Business Units.

You will be expected to have a deep understanding of the business units you support, especially the analytical needs and opportunities as well as understand and comprehend the full scope of information managed within the BI and data management environment.

You will build and foster relationships so as to be able to work independently and closely with your BT colleagues as well as key senior level business clients .You will prepare, lead, and facilitate BI/data management discovery workshops, assemble, synthesize and document key learning's, be innovative in your solution concept design and be able to develop and communicate a BI/Information Management Strategy/Road Map, which will set the direction for the core solution offerings of GBI as well as the capabilities of Pfizer. You will represent this strategy throughout the solution development life cycle and continue to manage it and keep it relevant to the changing business and technical environments.

Role Responsibilities

Engagement Management

  • Work with clients, client partners, and other stakeholders to develop business justifications, scope of deliverables, RFPs, and explorations of solution options.

  • Perform business and functional analysis activities (e.g. documenting functional requirements) for projects as required

  • Establish and maintain client and relationships. Know your client base and their business needs at all times.

  • Manages and sets stakeholder expectations

  • Ensures that all customer expectations have been met through delivery of services or projects

  • Analyzes business requests to determine the best approach to creating successful resolution delivery solutions/projects effectively and efficiently

  • Provides a single point of contact and accountability for the client

  • Secures appropriate resources for projects, engaging with the business, and facilitating service delivery

  • Shapes thinking on how technology solutions support the goals of the business

  • Articulates BT services and ensures services meet client needs and value expectations, while educating BT on client needs

  • Aligns BT services with current and future needs of the business and its customers while improving quality of services delivered

  • Analyzing business problems and key issues and developing strategic business analytic implementation plans ('road map').

  • Work to drive clarity around people, process, and data and how they work together to support business needs and challenges.

  • Ability to compose and present material to communicate difficult or complex concepts and gain consensus

  • Playing both the Business Partner yourself in many areas, while partnering with other BT Business Partner colleagues to align the BI Business Analytics Strategy with the Business Strategy

  • Partnering with key business clients to ensure existing GBI assets perform and evolve to meet business needs. Also, gain a deep understanding of the business to anticipate and plan for future needs.

  • Driving best practices and capabilities across business units

Technology

Defining and driving new BI capabilities across Pfizer business units. This will require:

  • Partnering with the other BT organizations to align BI Analytics Strategy with broader BT Strategies and ensure consistent use

  • Actively monitor & evaluate other company BI & data usage and bring best practices to Pfizer where applicable.

  • Actively monitor & evaluate emerging BI & data management technologies and introduce/present potential benefits to Pfizer.

Project Management/Program Management

  • End-to-end accountability for project success for projects driven out of GBI in support of these functions.

  • On-time, on-budget, on-quality project delivery; client satisfaction on a project-to-project basis; user satisfaction and effective leadership of teams through influence.

  • Compliance with Solution Center and other BT processes and financial procedures is required

  • Assembles and engages project teams

  • Project oversight and status reporting

  • Budget / Financial management

  • Maintain all project plans and manage all project activities against these plans in accordance with Project Management best practices and Solutions Delivery/BT procedures

  • Identify, manage, and bring to resolution all project risks/ issues. Escalate major project risks to scope, budget, or timeline to appropriate escalation points in a timely manner

  • Effectively lead and facilitate meetings with clients, vendors, and stakeholders, and conduct productive technology project team status/review meetings

  • Ensure the smooth transition of production solutions to support and maintenance structures within BT.

  • Review projects when complete against business case to ensure projected benefits are being realized

  • Ensure all projects are delivered with a minimum of business disruption

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Preferred Education: BS, MS, MBA

  • Preferred Discipline(s): Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Very strong customer relationship skills, especially with internal customers and constituents

  • 11-13 years of management experience leading project teams and technology delivery functions

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing and selling processes

  • Demonstrated experience at owning and managing a significant organizational or project budget ($1MM to $5MM annually)

  • Previous software development leadership experience

  • Experience using project management methodologies and standards

  • Demonstrated experience in scoping, defining and managing projects including determining project viability, developing rigorous project estimates, developing and establishing a project plan, budget defining technology solutions, developing RFPs, evaluating vendor responses, negotiating SOWs and identifying resource requirements

  • Demonstrated effective collaboration with teams across an organization to drive processes and operations

Technical Skills Requirements

  • BI delivery mechanisms: portals, thin/thick clients, email/mobile phone alerts, etc.

  • BI tools such as report builders, ad-hoc queries, OLAP, dashboards, BAM (business activity monitoring), data mining and predictive modelling

  • Dimensional data modeling principles

  • Physical data architecture options such as enterprise data warehouse, data federation, hub & spoke architectures, independent data marts

  • Data integration tools and techniques such as ETL (Extract Transform Load), CDC (Change Data Capture)

Job requires travel to NYC, Madison and Collegeville. The majority of time will be spent in the NYC office in close proximity to the GBA organization.
