Pfizer Essential Health (PEH) is a leader in non-viral Anti-Infectives, Biosimilars, off-patent Sterile Injectables, and the Emerging Markets. PEH Global Brands portfolio includes many of Pfizer's most iconic brands, including Lipitor, Viagra, and Norvasc.

The PEH Strategy team, operating within the PEH Chief Business Office (CBO) organization, is responsible for identifying ways to grow the PEH organization organically and inorganically. The group is responsible for setting the overall strategic course for the PEH business globally, evaluating white space opportunities, tackling key cross-cutting strategic questions, mapping the future landscape, environment and key drivers of the healthcare world and developing the overall PEH strategy.

The key to the success of the PEH Strategy team is entrepreneurial leadership, strategic vision, proactive idea generation, analytical rigor, successful relationship building internally with key stakeholders and leaders and externally with current and future partners.


  • Develop PEH corporate strategy and ongoing analysis and refresh of established strategy

  • Understand key macro-environmental factors that will impact PEH today and in the future and ensure PEH is always acting ahead of trend, not lagging

  • Foster a team environment across partner line, functional leads, and CBO organization to support engagement and connectivity as well as to ensure the right people are brought in productively and collaboratively.

  • Lead the PEH Strategy team to oversee execution of the strategy, including partnering with regions/business segments on strategy.

  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners (current and potential).

  • Closely manage all active projects, continuously drive quality and creativity with all our internal and externals partners.

  • Monitor Pfizer/non-Pfizer LOE strategies and develop skills to effectively monitor non-Pfizer patent expirations.

  • Strategic and operational planning: responsible for the annual strategic and operation planning; co-develop Global Brands BD & PE long-term strategic vision.


  • 12 years plus experience in pharmaceutical industry required. Understands global trends in healthcare and bio-pharmaceuticals, has knowledge of competitor strategies, knowledge of healthcare dynamics in the US and other major global markets, and understanding of the product development and business development process

  • BA / BS degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred

  • Previous strategy experience is required

  • Consulting experience preferred

  • Ability to influence and advocate with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization (ELT, Category Presidents, department leaders, and functional counterparts). Must be able to influence and advocate with executive, commercial and research leaders

  • Demonstration of strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, as evidenced by the ability to identify alternative scenarios, resulting implications, and recommendation for direction or action
