Pfizer Sr. Associate Scientist, Analytical Assay Development in Pearl River, New York

This is a laboratory based position. The candidate will be expected to help develop analytical assays and execute assay verification and qualification studies under guidance of a more senior scientist as well as to perform routine analysis in support of early phase vaccine materials (proteins, viruses, and glycocongugates) release and stability for early preclinical stage vaccine programs using standard analytical separations (HPLC, CE, etc) and spectroscopic techniques. All work is expected to be done in a compliant manner according to SOPs and GLP guidelines when applicable.

  • In this position, the individual will perform sample testing in support of process development, formulation development, release, stability, and characterization of vaccine candidates. This includes preparing samples, setting up and running the instruments, analyzing data and providing conclusions.

  • With guidance, the individual is expected to execute assay verification and qualification studies for assays used in the release and routine analysis of vaccine candidates.

  • Analyze data obtained from assay development and sample testing experiments, present data in the form of summaries or technical reports.

  • Draft and revise laboratory methods and reports.

  • Support assay training and transfer of methods.

  • Perform timely notebook entries and review for completed experiments.

  • Where applicable, perform job responsibilities in compliance with GLP and all other regulatory agency requirements

  • Satisfactorily complete all GLP and safety training in compliance with departmental requirements and follow appropriate safety practices in the workplace

  • The individual is expected to contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities (such as maintenance of equipment, managing laboratory waste).

  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline plus 0-2 years of related work experience
