Pfizer R2 Maintenance Technician IV (12 Hr Nights) in Rocky Mount, North Carolina

The Maintenance Technician IV performs maintenance, repair, complex trouble-shooting, redesign, and enhancement of mechanical, electrical, and computerized systems. This person develops maintenance, PM, and calibration procedures. The incumbent performs as a leader and technical resource for a group of level I, II or III technicians.


  • Trouble shoots, diagnoses and repairs machine breakdowns in a prompt, skillful manner in order to minimize machine downtime.

  • Demonstrate ability to make useful recommendations regarding improved machine performance through evaluation of manufacturing equipment for sensor and control applications.

  • Designs and installs electrical sensors or control systems to enhance performance. Instructs other technicians in the intricacies of assigned machinery and equipment; as well as, the machine/process operators in a proper operation of machinery.

  • Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of production and/or facility equipment without supervision.

  • Analyzes equipment/line problems and implement resolutions.

  • Writes and implements ECR modifications and cSCR/ECR changes


  • Coordinates installation activities of new equipment with production and maintenance personnel. Creates machine control logistic software and hardware for a moderate level of complexity.

  • Generate and implement cSCR changes for machine operation improvements.

  • Conducts various inspections on plant-wide emergency preparedness systems to ensure operational and sufficient.

  • Integrates project implementation with production personnel and management to include multi-level buy in and efficient scheduling.

  • Set priorities, organizes other technicians workloads, delegate and assign responsibilities, and train other technicians in areas of specialization.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.


  • H igh school/GED with no less than 2 years manufacturing plant maintenance/shop experience required.

  • Associates Degree (or equivalent) in a technical field may be considered in lieu of experience.

  • Course work (or equivalent experience) in the general or specific areas of electromechanical technology. Knowledge of the general trades: i.e., construction, electrical, machine shop. Knowledge of basic mathematics.

  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

  • Must know Mathematic formulas as it relates to problem solving and troubleshooting the preceding components

  • Must know general shop safety practices including handling and storage of potentially dangerous equipment.

  • A thorough working knowledge of electromechanical systems.

  • Ensuring adherence to all plant safety rules in area of responsibility.


  • Walking, climbing stairs, climbing ladders/walking on catwalks, work on knees occasionally, repetitive use of upper extremities.

  • Use computer terminal 2 hours per shift, respond to visual warning indicators, respond to audible warning indicators, respond to color or special visual indicators, use powered material handling equipment, work around moving equipment, wear specialized protective clothing, wear PPE (safety shoes/glasses, etc.) work in hot or cold environment, work in hearing conservation area, work with potent drug powders

  • Use computer terminal 1 hour per shift, work on knees occasionally, respond to visual warning indicators, respond to audible warning indicators, respond to color or special visual indicators, work around moving equipment, work with chemicals, work in hearing conservation area.

  • Change in to clean room garments 2-3 times per shift.

  • Stand up to 8-12 hours per shift, sit for up to 2-4 hours per shift, twist at waist 10 times per hour, regularly lift up to 20 pounds per activity 5 times per shift, occasionally lift a maximum of 50 pounds per activity 1 time per shift, walk, climb stairs, climb ladders/walk on catwalks


  • This position is for an 12 hour night shift in R2 SVP.
