Pfizer Director, Medical Content and Education (MD) in United States

The Director, FMD Medical Content and Education (MCE) individual is an integral member of the IM Field Medical Group responsible for (a) leading the management of medical content creation, curation, and customization for IM FMD Group teams; (b) creating and leading customized FMD capability and skills tools and resources to enhance the technical and customer interaction skills of the IM FMD Group; (c) leading customer data analytics projects for the IM FMD Group; and (d) leading medical congress team-wide deployment, communications, and creation of tools and resources related to the congresses for use with customers; The intent of this role is to provide support for the FMD aligned teams to meet HCP needs and provide scientific resource, tools, and systems support to enable the high levels of impact and responsive IM FMD teams.

This position will report into the IM FMD Group Medical Customer Lead and will be closely aligned with the IM FMD Leadership Team and specific therapeutic areas to ensure consistency and efficiency in deployment of tools, resources, and initiatives across the entire IM FMD Group.

The Director, FMD-MCE will:

  • Work with the Medical Customer Lead to conduct specific medical customer analytics for the IM FMD team to identify new medical customer segments and demonstrate medical impact

  • Closely align with IM FMD Leadership Team to prioritize and customize necessary scientific and field application resources to support the needs of the FMD team

  • Customize and oversee specific MRC content development to meet US-specific requirements

  • Provide field medical leadership at scientific congresses in designated therapeutic areas including preparation/adaptation of plans/playbooks, preparation of executive summary reports and coordination of HCP/Pfizer interactions as needed

  • Create, develop, and lead/coordinate customized skill and capability sessions for IM FMD colleagues and organize/provide medical content training for new colleagues

  • Enhance communications and follow-up between FMD team and other stakeholders including medical information, alliance partners, etc.

  • Lead collation and prioritization of DFOs to identify and spearhead actionable projects to act on feedback received from external HCPs

  • Keep abreast of medical and scientific developments in the designated therapeutic area by continuously reviewing literature in the field, monitoring competitor activities, networking with experts and attending assigned conferences

  • Maintain effective and appropriate communication and collaboration among headquarters medical colleagues, Medical Information and other Pfizer FMD colleagues

  • Ensure compliance with all internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations

  • Contribute to the medical planning for brand/asset team projects and activities, and work with field medical leadership to develop and implement the FMD team medical plan for Pfizer products in the designated therapeutic area

  • Collaborate with FMDs who lead regional work streams and regional cross-functional initiatives that contribute to the medical impact within a region for Pfizer products in the designated therapeutic area

  • Collaborate with FMDs who serve on medical and/or disease area and asset cross-functional committees, as appropriate

  • If necessary, conduct for the short-term the FMD duties for an open geographic region (e.g. due to medical leave, turnover of the incumbent FMD)

  • Participate in broader, cross-functional Medical Affairs strategic nitiatives and projects as needed.

  • Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs with external MD-based professional associations and/or societies.

  • Contribute expertise and insights to FMD teams, brand teams and other cross-functional work streams as a trained physician.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience

  • MD or DO with 7 or more years of relevant experience required

  • Expertise or experience in the designated therapeutic area is preferred

  • Expertise or experience in a field based medical role is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly adopt and utilize new digital technology and other resources with medical customers and record medical interactions (e.g. iPAD, Acronis, WEBEX, on-demand video-conferencing, OneMED, etc.)

  • Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/Rules/Regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions and relationships, etc.Ability to operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly on airplanes (i.e. attend HCP/customer meetings; attend NYHQ meetings, etc.) required; proximity to airline 'hub' city); Flexibility to travel 60-80% of time.
