Pfizer Sr. Associate Scientist (non in United States

We are seeking an energetic and motivated non-PhD Senior Research Associate with experience in molecular biology, protein purification and cell based assays to join our protein engineering department in South San Francisco and to contribute to exciting immune-oncology therapeutic approaches. The successful applicant will be an integral part of a research team evaluating novel antibodies and biologics for the treatment of cancer. They should express a keen interest in developing novel therapies.


  • The primary responsibility will be to work on various aspects of therapeutic antibody discovery.

  • To set up in vitro assays and conduct standard tissue culture in support of in vitro assays.

  • To express proteins including antibodies from mammalian systems by affinity, ion exchange, and size chromatography.

  • The individual must be highly motivated, ready to learn new skills and adapt, have meticulous bench-work and record-keeping, and can function independently.

  • To analyze, organize, and present results in small and large group meetings.

  • To read relevant scientific literature to aid in experimental design.

  • To contribute to a dynamic, exciting culture that embraces teamwork and innovation.


  • A BS or MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or an equivalent field with a minimum of 3 years with BS degree, or 0-3 years with MS, of laboratory research experience in protein engineering or protein biochemistry is required

  • Strong technical proficiency with molecular biology methods (PCR, nucleic acid purification, cloning). Experience with Vector NTI or similar DNA management software.

  • Experience with setting up in vitro assays

  • Experience with tissue cultures of immortalized cell lines

  • Experience using mammalian cells or E. coli for protein expression

  • Expertise in protein purification

  • Experience with standard protein characterization techniques such as SDS-PAGE, ELISA, and Western Blot is required

  • Ability to perform laboratory work and analysis of performed experiments

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • Preference for local candidates (no relocation package)
