What can I achieve and what will I be responsible for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?

Pfizer provides you with the opportunity to work with experts in the pharmaceutical industry and has a wealth of opportunities available across a variety of departments. Through working in a busy marketing environment you can look forward to developing critical business skills and being a valued team player. These skills will include communication through liaising with colleagues and external stakeholders, multi-tasking through working on a variety of projects and also leadership by owning specific marketing projects. You will learn the whole process of how a product gets to market from approval to stock management, to appropriate marketing to financial management

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Learning the foundations of marketing skills including project management.

  • Being an integral part of the marketing team, implementing key strategies and tactics as well as being a valued contributor to future strategic directions.

  • Managing material's from development to approval and dissemination.

  • Managing stock of materials and liaising with warehouse staff and suppliers.

  • Leading key projects throughout your placement to gain a deeper understanding into pharmaceutical marketing.

  • Supporting the management of regulatory processes including cross functional working to ensure compliance maintained.

What other opportunities and benefits do Pfizer offer?

Cross functional team working is a core part of this placement. Through your development you will learn the skills required to manage projects from start to finish. There will be opportunities to travel within the UK and may be an opportunity to travel abroad, dependent on business priorities. You will attend and be part of the planning team for all internal meetings as well as attend national conference. We often volunteer some time to charity and there would be the opportunity to shape what this might be for 2019/20.

When can I start?

Placements will start on 2nd September 2019 and will run for 12 months.


Type of person we are looking for, in relation to ' Skills ', ' Knowledge ' and ' Motivation ':

  • On target for a 2:1 Degree Classification

  • Competent in Excel, Powerpoint, good IT literacy skills

  • Good attention to detail

  • Ability to plan, manage time and priorities appropriately

  • Science background ideal but not essential

  • Innovative thinker

  • Team player

  • Enthusiastic to make a difference to patients lives
