About the Business Technology and UX Centre of Excellence
The role will be in our Business Technology (BT) team, with the mission to be the best information technology (IT) organisation in healthcare, and be respected as a world leader in delivering business value through technology.
Business Technology is structured into two key areas:
Business Technology Business Partners who provide client-facing thought leadership and business application solutions; and
Business Technology centres of excellence, including our User Experience Centre of Excellence (UX CoE).
Reporting to User Experience Lead in the European Business Technology team, you will help build strong and enduring relationships with our key stakeholders across the region and with global audiences around the world.
As part of the Global User Experience Centre of Excellence (UX CoE), you will be part of a growing community of UX and Design experts where you can make your mark and have the opportunity to contribute to an exceptional pool of skills and talents where everyone is different and has something unique to add to the team, helping to shape its future.
What can I achieve and what will I be responsible for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?
Pfizer provides undergraduates with the opportunity to work with experts in the pharmaceutical industry and has a wealth of opportunities available across a variety of departments. Through working in a dynamic and fast-paced Business Technology (BT) environment, undergraduates can look forward to learning new technologies, explore how they apply to pharmaceutical industry, develop business acumen, and work in a cross functional setting and experience being a valued team player. Skills that are important to this role and will be developed during the 12 month placement will include communication through liaising with colleagues and external partners, time management and prioritisation of different requests.
As a member of the team you will be the advocate of the user, you enjoy outside the box thinking and like to create beautiful designs that delight users. These things you are either already able to do or would like to learn from us.
What we are looking for?
We are looking for a small number of undergraduates who want to work in a User Experience and Design field to create beautiful designs and compelling experiences. Specifically, we are focused on creating a set of capabilities designed to enable Design Thinking exploration, experimentation, design and rapid prototyping. Day-to-day, you will actively support ad-hoc design efforts.
We are looking for undergraduates who can:
Use the following tools: Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere and MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
Be a part of a team: You are a team player and determined to meet the team's goals.
Inspire us and be creative: You are able to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and create designs that meet the brief, client needs and vision
Design with us: You have solid grasp of User Centered Design (UCD)
Learn and practice: You are an eager learner in all aspects of User Experience and Design.
Do I have the skills?
You should be studying for a Computer Human Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design or similar degree, be on track for a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above with a passion for User Experience and design. We are looking for undergraduates who can solve problems during ambiguity, work as a team, and can communicate effectively to stakeholders.
There will be plenty of opportunities to improve your skills over the 12 months as well as build your knowledge of technology and biopharmaceuticals for your future career. Finally, your industrial placement must be recognised or supported by your university.
Where will I be based?
Pfizer's European Business Technology team are predominately located near Tadworth, Surrey providing European IT services to Pfizer's commercial business. Opened in 2002, the site houses around 800 employees, who work across the commercial businesses or in one of the business support functions (such as finance or HR).
Pfizer currently provides a green shuttle service for our staff to our office from/to the following locations: Crawley, Dorking, Epsom, Leatherhead, Redhill, Reigate, Sutton & Tadworth.
When can I start?
Placements will start on 2nd September 2019 and will run for 12 months.
